Limpopo Basin data sharing and early warning flood forecast system
This PowerPoint presentation gives an overview of a project in the Limpopo Basin which aims to share near real-time flow data in the upper reaches of the basin, and establish an early warning flood forecast system (EWFFS) to determine the likely extent and timing of floods downstream. It is estimated that the total costs avoided due to an EWFFS would range from £844,824 in a mild flood scenario to over £3 million in a severe flood scenario. The presentation was developed at the end of Phase 1 of the project.
