Preliminary studies on the ecology of Mbasa (Opsaridium microlepis (Gunther)) in Lake Nyasa around the Ruhuhu River
This paper describes an ecological study of the economically important lake salmon (Opsaridium microlepis (Gunther)) in Lake Nyasa, where this endemic species is currently threatened. The study looked for probable reasons for the decline of this species and found that turbidity of the Ruhuhu River may be the main factor that governs when the salmon spawn.
